Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said that there is no issue with a coalition government, asserting that the government’s mission should be to work for the people of the state.

When asked about the long-running trend of coalition governments in Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde said, “What is the problem? Earlier too, there was a Shiv Sena-BJP government in the state for a long time. There’s no harm in coalition government. The government’s mission should be to develop the state, work for the people and take decisions for their welfare”.

The Chief Minister also exuded confidence that the ruling Mahayuti government, comprising his Shiv Sena, BJP and the NCP (Ajit Pawar) will win 45 out of the 48 seats of Maharashtra in the Lok Sabha polls. He also said that the ruling coalition would win all six Lok Seats in Mumbai.

“We will win more than 45 seats in Maharashtra and all 6 seats in Mumbai in the Lok Sabha elections,” he said while speaking exclusively to India Today TV.

Eknath Shinde also heaped praise on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attributed Maharashtra’s success to a combination of “Modi magic” and effective governance.

“We have a double-engine government in Maharashtra. The central government has implemented several schemes in the state, such as rail, road, air and water connectivity and, likewise, the state government has complimented it. I believe infrastructural boost is one of the prime factors behind the development of a state,” Shinde said.

The Chief Minister also lashed out at the erstwhile Maha Vikas Aghadi government, accusing it of obstructing the implementation of every welfare scheme.

“The previous government had closed everything and put speed breakers ahead of all the projects. We have now removed those breakers. We started all the projects that were closed during the MVA regime,” he said.
