The Gurgaon Police on Tuesday busted a sex racket and arrested 10 people, including foreign women, from a hotel in Sector 57, officials said.

According to the police, the district police and CM Flying Squad, an independent force under the Haryana government, jointly raided Hotel Rao Estate through a decoy customer who negotiated with the manager to arrange the women.

“After he paid the money, the decoy informed the police team that reached the spot and made the arrests. Among the six women, two each were from Bangladesh and Uzbekistan,” said Inspector Harish of CM Flying Squad.

He said that the accused have admitted to engaging in prostitution.

The arrested were identified as Dilbag (hotel staff), Sanjeev Yadav (hotel manager) from Rajasthan, Sanjay, Ram Babu, Suhani Khan, Marjina Sultan from Assam, Lata Farjana Khan (Bangladeshi), Mona Kumari (Bangladeshi), Istrabonu (Uzbekistan), and Khadichabonu (Uzbekistan).

Festive offer

Dilbag, a resident of Haryana’s Mahendragarh, operated the racket and earned Rs 1.27 lakh every month, while Ram Babu, a resident of Rewari, was a customer, the police said.

Police further said that the Bangladeshi women were brought to the country illegally without a passport or a visa.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, the Foreigners Act, and sections 186, 332, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code at Sector-56 Police Station, he added.

As per the FIR, a man from Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, was collecting Rs 10,000 – Rs 11,000 from each customer for trafficking women for prostitution. However, police have not been able to arrest him yet.

Vinod Kumar, the police officer who lodged the complaint, stated that he, along with his team and additional police force, reached near Hotel Rao Estate House to assess the situation. “We were instructed to inform the police once they brought the women to the room. The manager, Sanjeev, said that he provides rooms for anyone who comes to his hotel for sex work. He brings women for sex work in his car and drops them at the hotel,” Vinod said in the FIR.

The police officer mentioned that an entry is made in the register for every Indian woman who comes to the hotel but this was not the case for foreign women.
