Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s son Jay Sunday met Maratha reservation activist Manoj Jarange Patil at his village Antarwali Sarathi.
Although the meeting was termed as a courtesy call, insiders indicated ruling Mahayuti is worried as Marathas are upset with government over non-implementation of draft notification “sage soyare” which entails issuing Kunbi certificates to eligible Marathas to avail OBC quota.
Ahead of the crucial Baramati polls, where Sunetra Pawar is contesting against three-term MP Supriya Sule, Jay the younger of two sons called upon Jarange Patil. The gesture many believe was part of making peace. On his part Jarange Patil has urged his followers to defeat candidates of parties which has worked against Marathas.
Mimicking Rohit, Ajit terms his crying ‘nautanki’
Election has brought out a hidden mimic within Ajit Pawar. After his estranged cousin Rohit Pawar cried on a stage at the poll campaign rally of Supriya Sule, Ajit Pawar in his rally ridiculed him. Bringing out a handkerchief from the pocket, Ajit mimicked crying Rohit Pawar and said that such ‘nautanki’ will not be tolerated by the people of Baramati. The crowd gathered for Ajit’s rally did give him applause for his mimicry but whether people of Baramati have appreciated it or not will be clear only on June 4.
Visit to Dy CM reverses action
Abhijit Patil of Vitthal cooperative sugar mill, had been supporting NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar in Madha Lok Sabha seat. In the middle of the campaign, the Maharashtra state cooperative bank seized its sugar stocks. The action was, however, reversed after Patil made a visit to Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. Now, speaking at the rally in Solapur district, Fadnavis praised Patil and commented on recent developments as mere coincidences.
