Six former chief ministers are Cabinet Ministers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new Council of Ministers. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has been allocated the Union Ministry of Agriculture, while former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has been given charge of the Power and Urban Affairs Ministry.

Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, leader of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), has been given charge of the Union Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Rajnath Singh, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, will continue as the Minister of Defence, according to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has been appointed as the Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways in the new Cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The JDS leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister has been allocated the portfolio of Heavy Industries and Steel.

Meanwhile, Amit Shah will continue as the Minister of Home Affairs and the Minister of Cooperation. Nitin Gadkari retained the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, and Nirmala Sitharaman retained the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

BJP chief JP Nadda has been allocated the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. S Jaishankar returned to the Ministry of External Affairs, while Piyush Goyal got the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Ashwini Vaishnaw will continue as the Minister of Railways and has also been assigned the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy have been allocated to Pralhad Joshi, while Jyotiraditya Scindia got the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region.
